Cappello's Chats With CrossFitter, Kaleena Ladeairous

With our CrossFit focus for the new year, we got the chance to catch up with CrossFitter, Kaleena Ladeairous.

Read the quick chat below to find out some insight on her start with CrossFit.

What influenced you to start CrossFit?
My ex. She had been doing it for months and adored it and thought I would be good at it. So she convinced me to try it. It took 9 months for me to go with her, but once I did, I was hooked!

Do you prefer to compete in teams or as an individual?
After going to the games on a team, I started loving team competitions! But I will be competing this year as an individual. Both have their perks.

What's your best memory from any CrossFit competition?
Placing second at the CrossFit Games.

Favorite WOD (Workout Day)?
Fight Gone Bad

Three rounds of:
Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps)
Box Jump, 20" box (Reps)
Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps)
Row (Calories)

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. On call of "rotate", the athletes must move to the next station immediately for best score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.

What type of diet do you follow?
I just try to eat healthy. I don't cut anything from my diet, but believe in moderation.

Any advice for someone looking to get into CrossFit?
Try out a bunch of gyms in your area before committing to one.

What's your CrossFit philosophy?
You choose to be here. Give 100%.
